Spring sessions are my absolute favorite to prepare for! And the key word here is prepare. A little intentionality before your session makes the whole experience feel effortless on the day, which is why I built this checklist for you! Because I know you have enough on your plate, and I want this session to feel like a gift for you and not another to-do.
So, here we go!
4-6 Weeks Before Your Session
- Book your session: Spring books up fast in the Bellevue, Kirkland, and Seattle area. Don’t wait!
- Start thinking about outfits: Scroll Pinterest, pull colors, start coordinating. Give yourself time to shop if needed. You can also expect a styling guide sent your way after you book a session with me.
- Discuss the location: Do you want cherry blossoms? Lush trails? Lakefront light? Let me know your vision. We have so many beautiful options here in Washington!
1-2 Weeks Before
- Confirm outfits. Lay everything out and take a photo or make a Pinterest board. Does it coordinate? Does everyone look and feel good?
- Get haircuts if needed. Not the night before, but a week before, so everything settles naturally.
- Read your pre-session guide. I send one to every client and it’s full of detail that will make your life easier.
The Day Before
- Prep snacks for the little ones. Pack favorites.
- Lay out all outfits. Include shoes, accessories, and any extras.
- Get a good night’s sleep. So you feel more rested and enjoy the session more.
Day of Session
- Eat before you come. Everyone… adults included.
- Bring snacks as backup.
- Arrive a few minutes early to let everyone acclimate to the environment.
- Leave the expectations at home. Come ready to have fun, not to be perfect.
For Babies and Toddlers
- Feed right before the session
- Bring their favorite toy or comfort item
- Schedule around nap time if possible
- Dress them last
- Remember that children are not supposed to “behave” a specific way, so do not worry, our session can flow based on their lead as well.
After the Session
- Expect your gallery in 2 weeks.
- Plan your wall display. Think about where photos will live in your home before the gallery arrives.
- Leave a review if you loved the service and the photos. It helps other families find me and it helps my small business to grow. Thank you!
